The screen size is 27 inches, which is enough when you are utilizing a wide-angle lens. The screen resolution is also fine, as it comes with a contemporary resolution that is 1080p.

Another feature that I admire the most is the thin bezel. You might not know this, but when buying monitors for CCTV cameras, it is extremely important to get the thin bezels so that you can have a bigger picture quickly, and the borders of the screen must not annoy you.

Have you ever heard of auto-brightness? It is available for our mobile phones; however, it is not standard on monitors. The BenQ 27 inches monitor has brightness intelligence. It means that if you need to see the screen in an emergency, it will adjust the brightness itself, no matter what time it is. RGB contrast is pretty essential for the perfect visuals, especially when coming through a CCTV camera. It is mainly because the CCTV camera video, while recording during the dark hours, might not give you the best contrast. Thus, a good monitor can help you in this regard.

Therefore, the Sceptre E275W is a fine option, and it is a 27 inches LED. Unlike LCD, the contrast ratio would be higher.

If you are about to connect various other devices with the Monitor to enhance the security setup, then again, the Sceptre E275w has two HDMI ports. It ensures that the users can easily connect it with any device.

If you would see its picture, you might feel that it comes with really thin sides and boundaries. However, in reality, it is not like that. The borders are pretty thick, so you cannot keep this monitor side by side with other monitors.

Are you thinking of connecting your audio-enabled security camera with the PC? Then again, this Monitor would help because it comes with both input and output ports for you to use for audio and sound.

Then it is very sturdy. Even though it is a bit heavy, one can take it anywhere without wondering that it will break real soon. So here the things are very much sorted for the ones, who need to change their home or office, with the same security system.

One amazing feature, which a commercial security system would require for the best performance, is free Sync is also available. So you can easily use this Monitor as a gaming monitor too.

  • No height adjustment.

The best and most appealing thing about this Monitor was its visuals. It is not too big, nor does its boundaries. You can easily keep it in your office for security or for work. It is a legit multipurpose monitor. The thin IPS display makes it an ideal choice for the security camera display too. You can easily view the details with the ideal resolution, which is 1080p.

As far as the connectivity is concerned, it comes with HDMI input for better video display and a hassle-free experience. That is the one thing we all need when looking for a monitor to connect the security cameras.

When I opened the box, I was a bit curious and surprised, as it comes with an HDMI cable too. Most monitors only have the power cable, which is the basic necessity, but here the customers are being pampered with the connectivity cables as well.

I was expecting a monitor with height adjustment; however, it has no such option. Instead, you can rely on the tilt backward, and forward options.

To be honest, as I approached the assembly, it was not an easy task to assemble this Monitor. Placing it on the stand might make you feel miserable. You would think that putting more force will break it. However, that is not the case.

The refresh rate is only 60Hz, which limits the use of this Monitor. However, It’s the best budget monitor for security cameras use.

CONS

  • Takes a lot of space in the back.

Hp has been a great name in this industry, and anyone can rely on its products. However, each model varies, and this one comes with a relatively small screen. So those who don’t want a bigger screen for a CCTV security camera can consider it.

Even though the screen size is not as big as the previously discussed monitors, it still has the same advanced features. Its anti-glare screen makes it a reliable article for places where there can be intense light.

I don’t think it will be a good idea to put this Monitor on the wall, as you will then be deprived of the many features, like rotation, tilt, and landscape mode. It is of high importance for places where you need to scrutinize the CCTV footage.

As far as the viewing angle is concerned, it comes with a > 170-degree viewing angle. Even though the size is small, you will get the same best results.

Then the resolution is also on point. For sound, you do not need to add extra speakers as it comes with powerful built-in speakers. You cannot doubt HP in this regard. It would be an ideal choice for the users requiring a monitor that can be viewed from several angles. It will be a great help in keeping an eye on the outside or inside of their house/offices.

SAMSUNG LC27F398FWNXZ Curved LED Monitor

PROS

  • Very slim design.
  • curved screen for extra focus.
  • Deep blacks and whites.
  • Comes with an Eye saver mode.
  •  Comes with a quick setup guide.

CONS

  • It is hard to place it.
  • Eye care mode is cheap.

For some special monitoring tasks, where you need to keep the security camera zoomed in, it is best to use a curved monitor. It will not only provide a clear video, but the viewer can have a great focus on the screen too.

It is not a simple and smaller curved monitor, as it covers almost a 1.8m curve. You can have it as the Main Monitor of the entire security system of your office, or you may have it as the only Monitor at your home for security setup.

One thing which I found annoying was the brightness level. It is only 250 nits. I was expecting a bit more, as my room has a lot of light, and a monitor with lower brightness can affect my work and focus.

The resolution is also on point, and you will be watching everything that happens in front of the camera clearly. Unlike most monitors, it comes with an eye care mode, and users need to set it before using the Monitor for a longer period.

The eye care mode comes with its risks. You will feel a slight change in the color contrast in this mode, so when you are only watching the screen from a distance, then it is recommended to not turn on the eyecare mode.

Additionally, the 60Hz refresh rate is fine for CCTV cameras, but it is not reliable for gaming.

6. BenQ EL2870U 4K UHD Monitor

BenQ EL2870U 4K UHD Monitor

  • Works with G-sync too.
  • Comes with a three years warranty.
  • Safe for the eyes.
  • Easy to set.
  • Multipurpose gaming monitor.

CONS

  • Does not come with true HDR

It comes with a 4k screen, with an ultra HD screen. It means that unlike the FHD screen, which is one of the most common features of these monitors. However, here with BenQ, you will get a huge difference in the visual experience.

One thing which might intrigue you about this Monitor is its extra feature. I know anyone who only wants a monitor for security purposes will not think of a gaming monitor. However, as per my experience, a gaming monitor is a multipurpose device, you may use it for security purposes, but you can also use it for security purposes. In fact, with the 1 ms response rate, it will be an ideal device for keeping an eye on the sensitive spots of your house.

Coming to the audio and sound quality. It comes with two speakers, but if you are searching for a loud sound, then it will be better to have external speakers too, as they might be unable to provide a very loud sound.

The advanced BenQ monitors are now coming with an added feature, and that is the wire and cable management. You can easily connect your security cameras but without having a mess around the Monitor.

One more thing which I felt was different from many 4k UHD screens is the pixel density. You might wonder that it is the same 4k resolution, but it is not the same. You will understand my point once you use this product.

7. Philips 278E1A Frameless Monitor

Philips 278E1A Frameless Monitor

PROS

  • Flicker-free technology.
  • Economical Monitor.
  • Consumes less energy.
  • Comes with two HDMI cables.
  • Easy to handle cables.
  • Comes with dual speakers.

CONS

  • Setting it up is a fuss.

This is a 27-inch monitor, which is quite enough for a Security Camera System. However, it depends on the number of cameras installed. For a security system with more than eight channels, a 27 inches monitor will not be enough. My security system comprises six channels. So it works fine for that.

There was confusion regarding this model, and many people assumed it to be a curved monitor. It is not curved. Instead, the back of the Monitor is made in a way that it will not cover a lot of space. It is inwardly built. The bump is a bit curved. Overall, the build is sturdy, and you do not need to worry about it breaking.

It comes with the Philip smart contrast software, and you can set it whenever the sun rises. It would be a necessity. Sadly it does not have an automatic setting for the contrast, and you will have to set everything manually. However, the quality of the contrasts is very reliable, and it has deep whites and deep blacks so that the user can get the best visuals.

I tried to mount this Monitor, even though it is not that heavy, but fixing it in place made a lot of trouble. It took almost thirty minutes to fix it in place.

Being a very tidy person, I wished for a monitor with cable storage. So here we have one. You can keep all the connected cables in that box so that the desk must have space to keep the NVR or DVR.

8. SAMSUNG UE57 Series 4K UHD Computer Monitor (LU28E570DS/ZA)

SAMSUNG UE57 Series 4K UHD Computer Monitor (LU28E570DS/ZA)

Specifications:

Brand: Asus | Size: 28 Inches | Resolution: 3840 x 2160 | Refresh Rate: 60 Hz | Response Time: 1 ms | Brightness: 370 nits | Ports: HDMI , Display Port

PROS

  • Low power consumption.
  • Minimum response rate.
  • Free Sync compatible.
  • Stylish and sleek design.
  • Comes with an eye saver mode too.
  • 330 nits brightness.

CONS

  • No speakers.

The 4K UHD cameras are the best for 4k security cameras. Those who will be using FHD monitors for UHD cameras will be at a loss. It is not a gaming monitor, but one can easily use it for gaming purposes too.

You do not need to worry about the graphics, it comes with the AMD free sync, so there is always an option for connecting the GPU. Getting a GPU will be the finest option for you, as it will give you a clear view of the security camera’s videos particularly.

Then with a 1 ms response rate, we believe it to be a fine gaming monitor too. However, unfortunately, it will stay restricted to only the security camera and personal use. We do not feel a 60Hz refresh rate is fine for gaming sessions.

One more significant point is about the LCD display, and it is not an IPS screen, so you must not expect it to give you a view of the totality. Instead, it is a TN display. It is also great but not as good as the IPS.

The top benefit of a TN display is the power consumption. As the IPS display will consume more power, and anyone requiring a monitor for security cameras will need to turn it on for several hours, then they should go for the twisted nematic display.

Lastly, the overall look of the Monitor is very attractive. You can keep it without disturbing the look and decor of the study table. It is more like a contemporary style.

9. ASUS TUF Monitor (VG27AQ)

ASUS TUF Monitor (VG27AQ)

Specifications:

  • Compatible with G-sync.
  • Higher refresh rate.
  • VESA mountable.
  • In-built speakers.
  • Reliable structure.
  • Comes with shadow boost technology.
  • Multi-purpose Monitor.

CONS

  • It flickers with HDR on.

Are you setting up your office? Or the new security camera system is for school? Then it is highly important to get a  gaming monitor. This one by ASSU comes with all the reliable features. The size of the screen is 27 inches, which is fine for almost eight cameras.

Then it is a QHD 2K screen with a 165Hz refresh rate.

Unlike the regular monitors, it will cost you more, but with a higher refresh rate, it ensures that the user gets to view the online connection clearly. The QHD screen will ensure it. It would be a wise choice for the wide-angled security cameras.

Then the extreme low motion blur technology makes it even more obvious that this will be a great choice for the dedicated security camera system as the extreme motion blur feature will make it easier for them to watch videos and the movement of every person being captured through the cameras.

It claims to come with HDR 10, but you should not be worried if the security camera you use is not great at delivering colors. To check the HDR10 feature, you can try watching a movie or video. I did the same and came to know that the Monitor was fine. It was only the security camera’s lens that did not capture the actual colors.

Overall, it is a great choice if you wish to invest in security monitors that can be sold off at a good rate later on. Moreover, there is no harm in using them for work and gaming, too, as it comes with G-sync.

What type of monitors is best for CCTV – Buyer Guide

Now, as you have gone through the reviews of the nine best monitors for security cameras, it is high time to get some knowledge about the way to buy the best. Obviously, if all nine of them are good, you would not be buying all of them. So to pick the best one for you, we are here to help.

The HDMI ports

How would you connect the security camera hard disk drive if there is no HDMI port? Furthermore, in many cases, when you are arranging a security camera set up, you need a monitor with multiple ports.

So the best and ideal Monitor would be the one that has multiple HDMI ports, a display port, audio, input, and output port.

Energy saver monitor

It would not be a regular monitor used with a PC whenever needed. As the user might need to keep it turned on for the entire day and night, therefore, it has to be power saving. Otherwise, be ready to pay a bulky amount for the electricity bill.

Who would need to do this for security, but nig enterprises, malls, schools, and museums need such systems. Anyhow, if you also plan to use the Monitor for several hours a day then it is necessary to buy the one with a power-saving feature.

Now, when we say the power saving feature, we mean any feature that is crucial in saving power. In this case, the most prominent feature that may cause a lot of power loss is the IPS screens. No matter how great they would be but they will take a lot of energy. On the other hand, there are TN screens, and they do not need electricity all the time to keep you updated. They are a better alternative for people who cannot afford an expensive security system.

Screen size

The screen size would decide how well you can use the system. If you have more than six security camera systems, say up to eight, then it would be better to have a 27 to 32 inches screen. For lesser cameras, you can shift to 25 inches.

Refresh rate

The refresh rate is the speed with which the user can see the video. Most of the security cameras are designed to give you. However, you might not get it if the refresh rate of the Monitor is not up to the mark. The ideal refresh rate for a monitor that would be used for security is 60hz. Anything less than that would be a waste of money. Additionally, keep in mind that the higher the refresh rate, the better it will be.

Response rate

The response rate would be an essential feature for any monitor that has to be connected with an online security camera. The ideal response rate would be between 5 ms to 1 ms. It would be better to go for at least 5 ms in all cases.

Resolution

A resolution between 1920x1080p and a UHD would be fine. However, it will be better to choose a monitor with the same resolution as the camera.

The graphics

What is the point of having a monitor if it is not supporting the vision? The graphics can vary. However, if you are into some high-profile security system, then it would be better to go for monitors with G-sync or Free-sync. It will be a gaming monitor, but that is fine as per your need.

Cable box

When setting the wired CCTV security camera, you will need to set a lot of wires. This will require a lot of wires. So those who do not want a messy area can think of a cable box.

Final words:

Choosing a reliable monitor for the CCTV camera seems very easy. You just need to get a working monitor, but when you actually do this, you will be hit with several things. Budget, size, and whatnot. Therefore, for a wise choice and investment, do follow the instructions mentioned here. Best of luck!
